It's All About The Last Month
Sorry
guys but I haven’t posted in a just under a month! Its feel like it’s been alot
longer, but life has been a bit manic at the moment, but in a good way :) I have suddenly gained a
social life, because the best thing about turning 18 is all your friends do to,
those of you who are 18 or older will know that there are soooo many parties,
meals, events to celebrate everyone becoming the big 1-8, those of you under 18
you have so much to come! But I can’t complain, and it’s an excuse for me to
buy a new outfit nearly every week even though my mum doesn’t think it’s a
valid reason! For those of you who you read
my blog will know I am heavily involved in the Duke of Edinburgh award, and
this month it had me here there and everywhere! Since I have completed my gold
you may be thinking why?! Well with a few others selected from the North West,
we have been sponsored to become leaders and ambassadors to pass on what we know
to students around the North West. But this hasn’t been as easy as I thought,
thinking they would just gave me a badge saying leader, was completely wrong, I have been taking the
Basic Expedition Leader award, which involves going away on 4 weekends to learn
the skills I need! I have been on two and absolutely loved it, I will probably
do a post after my final assessment weekend fingers crossed I get there :) more updates with D of E,
due to us being sponsored my school won’t give me funding for my kit so me and
the other two girls I know had to apply for sponsorship from the Princes trust
(Sort of getting a family thing going, receiving money from the whole royal
family, the Queen is next on my agenda) I had to bid for the money and met this
lovely man Tony who worked as an ambassador for the trust, after talking to him
for a while, I found myself signing up to be a young ambassador over the
summer, so got that to look forward to! Early in the month was the Crime beat
awards, these are awards that take place in Merseyside for people or
organisations that aim to keep children off the streets or inspire them through
alternative methods, The three of us doing the leadership course where
nominated as we where ‘inspirational youth’ (cringy I know) We didn’t win but
we came runner up and received a lovely certificate and where honoured to
receive it from the High Sheriff of Merseyside, who while we were having a
photograph taken whispered to me “I am half a century older then you, and I
have no clue where to look when he shouts, look down the lens!” so after giving
him some camera advice , we attacked the free buffet! Also a few weeks back my friend Katie organized
a D of E Charity Gig for Alder Hay, a children’s hospital in Liverpool, It was
in the Elevator bar with local bands playing it was such a good night, even
though I told my mum it would end at 10:30 and I would be home at 11, walking
in at 1 in the morning, when I was up for sixth form at 6:30 was not a good
idea but worth it! My final D of E update, I promise is last week The whole
Duke of Edinburgh clan went down to the Philharmonic Hall to collect our pin Badge
for gold, so we can wear it to the Palace in April (SOOOOOO EXCITED) We felt
like royalty as all the gold students where in the private boxes with the best
view, with people performing songs dances and our very own Chantelle presenting
a speech of her experience with some very embarrassing photographs to go along
with it! So yeah that’s me at the moment alot of 18th’s, D of E,
More D of E, with a sprinkle of more D of E! So sorry for the novel and here
are my favourite photos...
